The different stages of your degree programme

The foundation course comprises the first two semesters and provides the technical and methodological foundations for the rest of the programme.

In this phase, you will acquire basic knowledge of economics, online technologies and marketing and learn to understand the connections between these areas. At the same time, you will be gradually introduced to scientific work and develop a sound understanding of the requirements of the digital media environment.

In the main degree programme, you will deepen your specialist knowledge in areas such as online marketing, business analytics, consulting, generative AI and strategic management and set individual specialisations.

After the fifth semester, you have the opportunity to select projects and elective modules according to your interests. You will work together in interdisciplinary, cross-degree programme project groups under practical conditions and gain valuable experience in real work situations. In doing so, you will strengthen both your professional and social skills. Through close cooperation with practice partners, the degree programme is continuously geared towards the current requirements of the labour market.

The fifth study semester is designed as a practical semester (compulsory internship). In this phase, you will apply the knowledge you have acquired during your studies directly in professional practice and deepen your ability to work independently, responsibly and in a structured manner. You will familiarise yourself with real work processes, projects and challenges in the company and gain valuable practical experience in your future professional field. Your internship will last six months, as one semester normally corresponds to this period.

For many students, the internship semester is an important door opener for their later career entry. Initial professional networks are often established during the internship, and it is not uncommon for students to have the opportunity to write their Bachelor's thesis in cooperation with the internship company. In some cases, the internship even leads directly to a career start after graduation.

The internship semester can also be completed abroad.

In the seventh and final semester, you will complete your studies with the Bachelor's thesis and the corresponding Bachelor's colloquium. During this period, you will work independently on a practical or scientific question from the field of Online-Medien-Management. You have three months in which to plan, research and work independently.

The Bachelor's thesis enables you to apply the knowledge you have acquired during your studies in greater depth and to set an individual specialisation.
